Watercolor, tempera, and acrylic paint will be used with dry media (colored pencils, ink, etc.) on a variety of surfaces (paper, canvas boards, stretched canvases, etc.) Special attention will be placed on the color wheel, color theory and different painting techniques. It is strongly recommended that students take Exploratory Art and or Drawing before taking Painting.

Free-standing sculpture, functional ware (cups, bowls, vases, etc.), and tile design will be among the projects created in this class. Paper and wire sculpture are also covered in this 3-D design class.
Weaving/Craft (8th grade) Students explore a variety of art projects involving fibers. Weaving, cross-stitch, and basketry, etc. will be introduced. Inspiration for design will come from nature, technology, and the student’s own imagination.
Advanced Art (7th & 8th grade) (must have teacher permission) Students create more in-depth approaches to drawing, painting and 3-D design. This class is designed for students who have a strong interest in Art and can focus independently for many hours on personal projects in order to further their understanding and appreciation for making art.
